Saving money is the latest trend

Instead of splurging on 3 pairs of shoes that I was 2 clicks away from ordering, I decided to try out the latest fashion blogger frenzy and glam up one of my old pairs instead. The best part is, this is a super duper easy project for any fashionista! I got these heels a few months ago at PAYLESS for only $20 and now they look like a bajillion bucks...

I got these pyramid studs on a trip I took this summer and never found anything worth using them on. Thankfully man invented the internet & fashionistas invented fashion blogs & sharing ideas. I'm still working on the second pair and am contemplating on whether I should cover the upper and lower bands with studs as well or leave them as is... Any Suggestions?

Wow wow!! Sanrio Puroland, located in Tama, Tokyo: I've heard of this place before but sort of just forgot of it's exsistance and thought of it as some "make believe" place that I'll probably never get to go to, but after running into a gallery of photos... I just don't know what to say, I'm astonished and am making it a point to someday travel to Tokyo and not only visit this place, but experience the culture. And anyone who would be willing to go with me would make me the happiest girl on planet earth, really. I recently got a hair cut from my most favorite hairdresser, Cynthia. I decided to go with straight across bangs rather than my usual side swept bangs. After she finished & I saw my hair I couldn't stop singing "just dance" by Lady Ga Ga. I'm not a big fan of her music (except for that one song) but do consider myself a HUGE fan of her wardrobe and her fringe...

1. Tulle bow hat; Forever 21- This hat is actually currently one of my "wants." I picture myself wearing it on New Years with some sort of sequins get up.

2. Shiny Body Suit; AA- I have been stalking this body suit for quiet some time now. Seems like it would be fun to play around with. Now that the weather is cooling down, I wouldn't doubt seeing myself pairing this with some black tights and a long trench coat over...thats all. I can already hear my mom asking "do you have shorts under that?"

3. Black Stretch Gloves; Monikapolitan.com- You can find these at yours truely...wink wink;) I have yet to use them on a night out which is bad on my part because they really are divine, but I will soon.

4. Vero Neon Platform; Forever 21- How amazing are these? To me at first... they seemed to kinda sorta resemble stripper shoes, but once I saw them on the model simply worn with a black dress I realized I MUST HAVE them!

5. Dior Backstage Mascara; Sephora- I can honestly say that I own this mascara and it pretty much is ONE of the best i've tried. I especially like it once it is running low and there isn't too much mascara on the brush, it really seperates and lengthens your lashes without all the goopy mess.

Hello holidays

For me the holidays means watching "THE SANTA CLAUSE" 10 times a week starting in October. It's refreshing to know that my boyfriend feels the same way about getting early holiday starts. I've learned to never procrastinate on Christmas anythings because waiting last minute means no good decorations or presents! Yesterday zar and I went to Target. I convinced him to buy about 5 Christmas items that he didn't need, including a new tree. He even has his very own fashion/music/photography blog ... I think it's so cute when boys have blogs.

A New York New Years?

As mentioned before, last saturday there was a fashion show at Shine. I won "Earths worste intern" by trying to help out NOWHERE CLOTHING. I forgot to pass out cards, forgot to get the safety pins but didn't forget to get my margarita ;) I guess i'll stick to my own store next time. But hey I did alter and pin a couple of guys pants so that counts? My bangs are so long I get them cut tomorrow along with receiving my fabulous skirts as mentioned in the previous post. As for now, here are some funny pictures...

[Edit] It's official! Downtown McAllen WILL be having their first annual ball drop to break in the 2009 new year. My boyfriend claims he's not convinced yet and although I somewhat agree I don't want to be like "THAT Dontgetemo customer" who is never appreciative of hard work and change coming to the valley, seems like SOME (not all) are never satisfied even with the biggest acts coming down. Yeah maybe this one might not be too shabby being that it's a test run, but things are finally looking out for the downtown area, finally people are putting it to the use it deserves & hopefully many of us will stop by and give support! Fashion design my life

One of my favorite local designers and good friend Danny from POWER POWER CLOTHING has just made his Fall/Winter line available to the public. As you may remember, several blogs ago I mentioned that he was making me 3 skirts from his most recent collection. I should be going to pick them up this week and am very excited to mix & match them with my favorite basics. He always makes sure everything fits perfect & appropriate for my body type and uses the comfiest materials on planet earff. McAllen Texas got a sniffle of some beautiful cold weather this weekend. It's suppose to ride on until the end of the week and I'm a December baby so I absolutely love cold weather, especially because we get to layer up and wear fun things on our head. The Mansion

This weekend was long, fun & unexpected. Saturday my good friends Rocky and Alex invited me to "the mansion." They made Thai food with Thai Tea while I was being a diva and just watched. We ate it in the HUGE backyard, it was deliciously amazing & kinda romantic. Afterwards we went to NOWHERE CLOTHING so rocky could do a fitting for a fashion show that was happening at SHINE... I've never seen him look so straight. He rocked the looks, we all had fun and now I'm doing some online shopping & about to go find some jeans at the mall.

Party in your mouth

It's Friday and I'm in a good mood (as usual) so I wanted to give you guys an extra personal update on what's going on with me, Monikapolitan.com and other related topics. I just finished ordering some extra special Christmas gifts for extra special friends & family. I want to get started early to avoid reading "sold out" or "credit balance= $0" and I suggest you do too! Currently, I am passing my accounting class!! It is the toughest class i've ever taken and have told everyone that it gave me an ulcer because of all the stress, so i'm sure you can just imagine how happy I am. This week I have placed tons of orders for new stuff that will be in store for the Holidays. Below is one of the additions which is available for PRE-ORDER right now!

Today I received an anonymous comment on my previous post which I think is important to address: The comment pertained to the Camera PVC bag Monikapolitan was suppose to get but never did. I did reply in detail but for those of you still interested in why it has not come, here is your answer: Some companies can be tricky, you don't know what to expect until you experience them by ordering. Once I placed my order for the reasonably priced bag and clothing the company sent me an invoice that included $80 shipping. $80 shipping!!?? If I payed $80 of shipping then that means I would have to sell this bag made out of PVC for at least $80 (and that doesn't include shipping.) I didn't see it as being successful nor did I want to make customers pay $80 for a bag made out of plastic so I canceled the order and stuck with the fringe scarves instead. I have certainly learned from this lesson and since then only post "coming soon" items once I receive shipping info. I hope you guys can understand and know that I am still looking for other places that offer it at a more reasonable price!

New Event

Yess! It was about time Monikapolitan.com & Dontgetemo Concerts hooked up again. I was starting to feel used & neglected...like a one-night-stand. All the details are listed on the flyer below. Unlike the Art Walk I am allowed to sell non-handmade goods so expect everything pictured on my website if it is in stock on that day. I'm still not too sure where I'm going to set up in Cine El Rey but if it's not on the bottom level it will most definitely be at the top. My giant ice cream cone lamp and cute gumball machine will be showing off that night so look for them. I hope to see some new and old faces!

Yesterday my cousin sent me the video of a commercial I mentioned we were doing months ago. Many of my friends said they saw it on TV & I hadn't so I was a tad worried. Luckily, it wasn't as embarrasing as I thought (except for the fact that my hair is totally lion-esque & frizzy because it was so hottt & rainy.) But, the 80's porn music in the background makes it 10000 x better...

November Art Walk- Part II

Aberazzi always gets a different view from what I photograph at events. Not to mention he has 100% more experience with his camera so they always come out 100% better.
