Behind the scenes- Pulp & Soda Magazine Shoot

Exciting news! Monikapolitan will be featured in next months local magazine Pulp&Soda!! It will feature me on the cover with an inside spread and interview about Monikapolitan.com, my brain & how everything got started. I actually just got home from the 5 hour shoot and before I sink into my comfie cupcake covers I wanted to show you guys some behind the scene action. As usual, I like to keep the Monikapolitan vibe fun, flirty with a hint of edge and that is exactly what you can expect in the next Pulp&Soda issue. They wanted Gabriel Castle to do the shoot AND interview. I'm a little nervous cause Gabriel likes to sabotage my life, especially by posting embarrassing twitpics of me sooo... this should be a weird & uncomfortable interview? My cousin Danielle went along for the support. Tomorrow is Dontgetemo's Cobra Starship show! I'm mostly excited to see The Maine and go to the Gabe Saporta after party at Volta where he will be DJing. It's going to be a good experience, hope to see a lot of faces!

Organize your life, then your room.

ooo weee does my back hurt! I spent my typical lazy Sunday re-organizing my room and bought a futon!! I have a really cool loft bed from IKEA and instead of doing what your suppose to do with it (have a cool study or living space underneath,) I loaded it with boxes and boxes, weird Monikapolitan.com packaging materials and more boxes. I felt bad when my friends came to visit because I had absolutely no space to walk around much less sit. I took everything out and am gradually organizing it outside of my room, into my closet space & those nifty plastic drawers. I have so much stuff I don't use it makes me sad. I've had enough of the clutter and am being really cut throat with myself and am loading ALL items I haven't used in months into bags and boxes and am having the Salvation Army come pick it up by the end of the week. I still need to organize a lot & definitely need to set up my Hello Kitty mini refrigerator! Those awkward frames on the wall that you cant even see will be replaced with a flat screen TV & I plan to have a "wine welcoming" party in my room once it's all settled. I can feel it in my brain that these next 2 months are going to be so busy. I have a Bridal Lingerie party to plan for my sister in law and I am expecting lots of traffic around Christmas at Monikapolitan.com. It's 3:30am and I have to be up at 7am for class so I think it's time to break in this futon...

Even if you aren't a HUGE psycho Hello Kitty fan like I me, how overwhelming does Hello Kitty's 35th anniversary party look? The party took place in Los Angeles and some of the guests included: Paris Hilton, Audrey Kitching, Hello Kitty's Pink Head designer Tarina Tarantino & other popular people like that. I'm hoping one day it will be me standing next to this larger than life Hello Kitty that's wearing a hideous grandma dress...

I was in da mood for some n00dz

The shoot with Gabriel Castle went beyond great! His new little studio office is perfect for future projects! This time we tried a shoot that was a little more "riskay" for his portfolio... sorry there is no nipple action of any sort, just my belly button, a bunch of pasties and double sided tape to prevent those slips. I didn't want to scare away any of my 13 year old customers or young readers which is why I censored the last two below but you can visit Gabriel's blog for the real deal if you are THAT interested. We also took some cute shots of the Channeling Chanel hoodie. Unfortunately white is sold out :( this white one below is my personal piece that I kept but there are still some in BLACK available! I can't stop purchasing shoes, shoes, shoes! I ordered some fabulous pairs today which are pictured below...

I've been studying all day for a Physical Science exam :( College sucks my good moods away & I want it to be over! Yesterday I managed to purchase some really unnecessary items, one being a full body bunny suit that Gabriel Castle and I found at a thrift shop for $8!! $8? Can't say no to an $8 bunny suit... right? I also did some online browsing and purchased of few items to add to my congested closet.... lately I've been wanting to add and add more shoes, belts and accessories to my closet, they really come in handy for photo shoots. Me and the G-Cass (Gabriel Castle) are planning a sexy photo shoot for tomorrow. We will be shooting the new faux leather jackets from Monikapolitan.com and maybe me in that bunny suit! Lots of new items on the way! I just added some cute jackets & other fall favorites to the store. You can pre-order them NOW and they arrive and ship out November 7th.

Crafty craft time!

The hiatus is over, Monikapolitan is making an Art walk comeback! November 6th you can find me selling at the Art Walk Market (in front of Roosevelts.) I'm not sure if I'm going to make this a monthly tradition again just yet, but once in a while would be nice for now. I got really inspired by all the people at the October Art Walk I visited this month. Next month I'm making ALL NEW things and trying to come up with exclusive & original ideas so you don't see similar items on other tables. One thing that isn't changing is the food, cupcake, ice cream and japan-esque inspired cuteness! I have already made several cutsie items and will be posting some sneak peaks of what you can find me selling probably a few days before November 6th. Speaking of cuteness... Photographer Marcelo Cantu sent me some edited pictures from the photo shoot that I wanted to share with you guys! The First 3 are edited and the last are "behind the scenes" shots that the lovely Laura took. I got a few emails about my shoes, dresses and such... I get most of my stuff from AA, Target, Forever21 and vintage shops.

Behind the scenes: Photo shoot with Mac-Citi

Today I had a photo shoot with the young and fabulous photographer, Marcelo Cantu. He set me up with Josie Fernandez who did my hair and make-up. I've known Josie via Facebook for EVERR and finally got the privilege of meeting her and by geee goly is it awesome meeting new down ass chicks in McAllen! I'm getting into a good habit of lugging my camera around and putting it to some use so I had someone take some "behind the scene" pictures from the shoot. Keep an eye out for MAC-CITI.COM, right now it is under construction but there are powerful things happening in the future...

I drink my milk with ice

Of course I forgot to put my memory card in my camera before I went to sell today... of course. So, unfortunately no cool pictures of old people shopping at 8:30am but I did purchase a vintage tea set for $20!!! It was meant to be sitting at the table right next to me and after eying it for 3 hours my mom convinced me to buy it. JP's sister found me the cutest crochet burger that you can assemble yourself and it was only $2... BARGAIN! I didn't realize that this place was going to be pretty much a HUGE flea market so my table was kind of out of place but I still managed to sell tons of clothes, sunglasses and other trinkets. However, next time I do this I'm definitely cleaning out my closet and selling EVERYTHING for a dollar because I always end up giving it away anyway. Thanks to everyone who went by :)

A girlz best friend

I'm in a hurry getting last minute things ready for tomorrow's indoor market event! It's 12:30am and I have to be up by 6am to be set up and ready to sell by 8:30 :o But before I hit the sack, I wanted to let my readers know that Monikapolitan now has SHOES! ...what girl doesn't love shoes!? There is a very small selection available right now but more will be added as the weeks go by. I hope to see some pretty new faces tomorrow at the PHARR CONVENTION CENTER. I will be there from 9am-2pm. Look at my tweets to know where I will be set up because I don't even know that yet. I should have a photo blog up after tomorrow from the event :D

Walking Art

Went to the art walk last night and it was grand! I found the cutest doll phone charm for $3! It made me miss selling at the art walk and meeting new faces. I'm thinking about coming out of retirement and selling next month but I have to think of crazy & original things to make before that happens. Afterward we went to a "gay" club, I had never been so it was definitely an experience... a good experience at that. There was a Tranny act dancing to Beyonce's "single ladies" better than I've seen any girl dance to it. Everyone was really friendly and kept telling me how "cute" I was and romantic stuff like that, I even got hit on by some girls... NICE! Don't forget to visit me at THE PHARR CONVENTION CENTER tomorrow (Sunday) from 9am-2pm! I will be selling tons of things found on Monikapolitan.com...
