Memory Day

On this beautiful Memorial Day I will be doing a post on something that has NOTHING to do with Memorial Day. But first, I want to give my thanks to all the troops, soldiers, veterans and everyone else who fights for our country... you guys are sexy and strong! Monikapolitan.com has been having a 25% off sale all day and it has been doing amazing! It's 9pm here so you still have 3 more hours to shop, stock up on sunglasses, cute dresses and take advantage of the great deal! Now on to the real reason for this post, I wanted to share something that pretty much saved my hair's life! For the past 2 1/2 weeks I've been using ITS A 10 hair product, specifically their leave in conditioner, and it is without a doubt AMAZING! I got my hair cut on Saturday and even Cindi told me my hair looked healthier. Red hair and pretty much anything unnatural is very damaging and I could tell my hair pretty much had it, so I looked up online reviews and found this product. It's a bit pricey for a little bottle but trust me... oh so worth it! It claims to do 10 things: 1.Repairs dry damaged hair 2.Add shine 3.Smooth & control frizz 4.Seal & protect hair color 5.Work as a Flat iron spray & thermal protector 6.Detangle 7.Stop hair breakage 8.Create Silkiness 9.Enhance natural body 10.Prevent split ends. After 2 1/2 weeks of using it about 3 times a week, I can honestly say that I've seen 8 out of the 10 results. Love it, need it, get it! I purchased mine on Amazon.com and think everyone who dyes their hair needs to give it a try! If you have any other questions about hair, the store or anything, feel free to ask on Tumblr's Ask or as a blog comment and I will try my best to respond soon!

Livin la vida loca

I'm pretty excited right now because they are showing Can't Hardly Wait on MTV. When this movie released I watched it almost everyday on VHS and established a love for Seth Green... what was I thinking?! I'm waiting for my hairdresser Cindilove to come cut my hair and probably going to a wedding later, romantic! I get a lot of questions about "who cuts my hair" and I previously addressed this on Twitter and Tumblr but for those of you who missed it, you can contact Cindi by clicking on the link above. She does hair by appointment and can even drive to you to get it done. Below are some pictures from my Thursday night. Photos taken by Cristal Yvette Perez (except for the last 2 because I stole her camera and worked it.) As you can see my neck is still red from the hair dye massacre...

Attack of the bunny ears

Hello 10am! I'm supposed to be getting ready for an academic achievement party my mom is throwing for her students... fun! Instead I'm here blogging it up because I wanted to do a quick post to show you a few of my recent personal purchases as well as what's coming soon to Monikapolitan.com! Since our mall here has nothing to offer, the only shopping I do is online shopping. Every now and then I like to satisfy my cravings and treat myself to things I probably don't need. I'm getting really into rings this season and trying to get back into headbands so this time I purchased a couple of awesome rings, a feather/tribal inspired headband and floral denim shorts... Floral and denim are probably my most favorite combo! I also snatched up a necklace with a faux amethyst stone. I was actually thinking about making a few similar necklaces for my own pleasures so I couldn't pass this one up! Something exciting coming to Monikapolitan.com is the bunny ears headband. You may have seen these little boogers a few months ago on celebs like Madonna, I'm sure Lady Gaga and Mary-Kate and Ashley. They were made popular by Louis Vuitton and I always told myself I wouldn't mind trying out a pair, but who wants to pay 3,454 dollars for a pair of ears? No one! The pair that will be available at Monikapolitan will be very affordable and run around $10. PS- did anyone notice the new blog layout? Love it, hate it? Speak!

Red hairz

I tried this new red for my hair and it's great... except for the part that it stains EVERYTHING it comes in contact with and got all over my neck and scalp! I also had to bleach my bathtub because it looked like a blood bath in there... bad idea! Usually during the Summer I switch to a more vibrant, unnatural red (as seen here 2 Summers ago) and once Winter comes around I go to a deeper more natural red. Aside from doing my hair and Monikapolitan things around the office, I delightfully treated myself to some new House of Holland tights! I had been searching everywhere for the perfect pair of suspender-like tights and had recently seen a bunch of celebs with these mysteriously awesome tights and finally figured out that they were by House of Holland. I can't wait to get them in...

Toys for the boys

I'm finally getting around to expanding the guys selection at Monikapolitan! I always get requests from guys and their girlfriends for more stuff for the fellas as well as the demand for plus sized clothes and I promise, I'm working on it! Monikapolitan.com doesn't want to leave any shoppers behind! There are 3 new sexy guy's tees that were added yesterday, but my ultimate favorite is the "Thank You For Getting Naked" Tee. The rest of this post is pretty much irrelevant... just some of my favorite shoes and snacks that have been satisfying me lately. The other day I had stuffed tomatoes, they are probably my new favorite snack and are really quick and easy to make! I put some recipes below just incase any of you want to try them out...

These floral shoes will always be my favorite.

New heels I just got in, killer and cute!

The adventures of beach

Summer? So far so good. As mentioned in my previous blog, I spent this weekend at South Padre Island for a friends birthday. I was on the verge of calling the trip off but I'm really glad I took a load off and went. Every summer my family and about 7 other families close to us park their trailers at the beach and stay all summer. I've been doing this since I was born and don't go as often as my parents do but I still manage to make it out every other weekend or so. This was my first beach trip of this Summer and half of it was spent at a place that our friends rented for the weekend. The house was a 4 story condo/mansion with an amazing balcony view on each floor and a pool. Houses and experiences like this really make me appreciate life, work and the world. I really wouldn't think that I would ever want or need a 4 story condo, but it does remind me how beautiful the world can be and it definitely inspires me to want to do more in order to experience more trips like these on a bigger scale. The view was amazing, the fun was real and the environment felt new. We went to Pelican West and danced to the greatest cover band ever heard, ate oysters, soaked in some sun on the sand, had day pool parties, night pool parties, went on a 4am beach adventure, had karate fights, I conducted a booty shaking contest (and I might have won) and I also made up a really weird dancing drinking game. Bye Bye Camera

This weekend was one of the greatest. The launch party on Thursday was a blast! I lost my floral connector ring at a party and my friend Cindi ended up finding it, hooray! Friday-Sunday was spent at the beach with good friends at a HUGE and beautiful condo. Gabriel got some fun pictures that I will post later on this week. I finally decided that I want to sell my camera. I already have several potential buyers but have been out of town so haven't been able to seal the deal just yet. My camera is a Canon Rebel XS, I bought it last year and it is what I use to take most of my pictures on this blog (unless they say "pictures by: someone else's name") as well as what I used for most of my store product pictures (like the latest seen here.) I've taken less than 2,000 pictures with it and it will come with the box, blank warranty card, original manuals, camera strap & lens kit (lens seen on camera in picture below.) There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with my camera and it works perfect, the reason I am selling it is because I am purchasing another camera soon. I am selling it (with everything mentioned above) for $425 and am only doing in person transactions so it is required that you live in the McAllen, TX area and can pay in full. If you are interested or have any questions please contact me here! I took a few last photos with my Canon Rebel XS at the launch party on Thursday. All photos were taken with my camera (except for 1st photo.) Enjoy...

You're such a Tulle!

Things on my side have been great! I'm officially a grad (with an associates degree that is) and it feels great that I'm moving forward. Gabriel helped me build a product box so I could take my own pictures since I like to work at weird hours. I have a bunch of cool stuff that is sitting in the office and finally got them photographed! I've added several new items to the store already including: Dream Catcher Necklaces, the very much requested Raccoon Tail Keychains, Japan based cosmetic bags and some vintage items. I will be adding more once I get the chance but as of right now, I am trying to eat a healthy meal, edit product photos and get dressed for the Tulle Room launch party all at the same time! My friend and hairstylist, cindi has worked very hard and is finally getting to show off her creations! The launch is happening tonight from 8pm-12 at Roosevelts (off Main Street.) Cindi gave me the opportunity to add to the gift bags that will be given out at the party and both Midnight Snackz and Monikapolitan gladly contributed. For the Monikapolitan treats I put some promotional items as well as little handmade kits where YOU can get creative and make your own goodies! I hope to see some of you there and don't forget to get your gift bag!

Summa Time

This weekend was an interesting one. Met some new friends, saw some new faces, did some awkward dance moves, had some awkward conversations, cooked up some healthy meals, ate 10 chicken nuggets in 5 minutes and finally got to see Iron Man 2. I'm very verry glad that Summer is finally here, I can't wait to wear my cute rompers, cat eye sunglasses and basic bathing suits! As mentioned before, Monikapolitan.com is getting some new summer pieces and I wanted to share my favorites with you! I am planning a Summer contest for June, it will be a video contest so get those webcams or video cameras ready! The winner will win a complete outfit from Monikapolitan.com. You can add yourself to our newsletter or follow me on twitter to be the first to know about the contest!

Yummy for your tummy

School's out, summer is in! I spent the last few days completing my college duties and adding new items to Monikapolitan.com. Fun rompers, denim one pieces and dresses are on the way and should be available at the end of May and I can't wait to try them out myself! As promised, I'm going to share some of my current favorite recipes! Whether you decide to eat healthy or not, TRUST ME, these are delicious enough for anyone to want to try! During the day I keep myself refreshed with a Mojito (minus the alcohol.) You will need: Mint leaves, Lemon, and Agave Syrup. I place the mint leaves at the bottom of the glass with a little bit of water, crush them as much as possible, add ice, fill the glass up with water and add Agave Syrup. Then I stir and enjoy! For lunch I love this new tuna recipe I found online, you will need: canned tuna packed in olive oil ( i use 2-3 cans) finely chopped shallot, finely chopped onion, capers, 1-3 chopped hard-boiled egg, 1/2 lemon and I like to add sea salt and pepper as well. Then you mix all of these together in a medium sized bowl! Once I get more delicious recipes in my tummy I will make sure to share my favorites with you guys!

Shopping on a Budget- Walmart Edition

Summer is approaching and I've been looking for a fun, fresh yet affordable wardrobe and I know many of you are too! It is understood that some people don't always have the money to spend on online shopping or at places like Urban Outfitters, so I decided to dedicate a post on how to shop on a budget! Walmart clothes CAN be tacky at times, but with an open eye you can really find some keepers! On this trip I spent $75 on: 2 rompers, a denim shirt, a cropped tee, floral shorts, a grey slouchy tee, a leopard cardigan and a watch. $75?!! This is what I would usually spend at Urban Outfitters for 1 floral romper or at American Apparel for a cropped cotton tee! I always prefer quantity over quality, I'd rather have 5 cheap shirts instead of paying the same for 1 designer shirt. Walmart also had some cute quilted purses and jewelry that I plan on snatching later this week but for now, here's my shopping on a budget experience! (photos taken by Gabriel Castle)
