Hurricane party

Hurricane Alex is in full force. Luckily South Texas isn't getting hit too hard but we do have some tornado warnings and heavy rain! Colleges have cancelled classes, businesses are closed for the day and we are all stuck in our houses hoping that our precious internet doesn't go out... well at least I am. Because of the severe weather and closure of businesses, Monikapolitan orders will be delayed by a few days. The pre-orders I mentioned in one of my previous posts have arrived! So far customers are loving the Pretty Pretty Polka dotted dress and all the cutsie rompers! There are few left in each style so order soon before they are gone forever! Other than that, I've been doing some summer shopping here and there and wanted to share some of my personal recent purchases with you...

Disposable Headaches

I've had a horrible headache all day and I couldn't sleep so I turned to blogging since it's been a while. Gabriel and I tried to develop my last 2 rolls of film today and pretty much failed... well I failed. All the pictures were either too close or had my finger covering the corners. One roll didn't even develop cause apparently we put the film in wrong, haha. We made up for our failure by going to the Salvation Army and searching for records with interesting or awkward covers. I purchased 3 vinyls and had 1 real winner... PLAYERS with the song "baby come back!" What a great find that one was! I had a week long vacation from Monikapolitan.com because of Bonnaroo and personal reasons but I'm back, ready to attack and have started adding new items to the store! Expect cute rompers, fun flirty dresses and quirky tees! You can secure your favorites by pre-ordering them now and expect them to ship out around July 6th. I'm still not done adding every item just yet but here's a peak at what is already available, coming soon and some outtakes from my film camera...

Funsaver Film Shots

Here are even MORE pictures from our Tennessee/Bonnaroo trip. All of these were taken with a funsaver disposable film camera which explains the fuzzyness in some images. I love the rawness of disposable cameras and need to use mine more. There is still 1 more camera that needs to be developed but for the mean time, here are some of my favorites that zar sent me from his disposable camera...

Bonnaroo-Day 3 & 4

So I'm home safe from Tennesee. Bonnaroo was the experience of a lifetime and one that I will never forget! I am convinced that everyone from Tennesse (especially everyone at Bonnaroo) is an alien. Everyone is so happy, no one stares at you awkwardly, not one single fight broke out and I didn't see anyone getting arrested (even thought there were drugs everywhere!) I'm already planning on going back next year and possibly camping out this time. Day 3 (Saturday) was our last day at Bonnaroo, we got to see comedian Aziz Ansari, a little bit of Weezer then did some major lounging on the grass while we waited for Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z to hit the stage. Jay-Z seriously blew my brains out, he is the most generous and breath taking performer I have ever seen and I think if you ever have the chance to see him, it is a MUST! We ended our night traditionally with Waffle House and passed out at the hotel immediately because we were so exhausted. Sunday we found an Asian resturant. They had everything on the menu... Thai, Japanese, Chinese & I even got my favorite... Thai Tea! After that Zar forced me to go to the Zoo. I mean, I LOVE zoos, but I was so afraid we would miss our flight since we were cutting it pretty short... apparently Zar didn't care because he made the opposite turn towards the Nashville zoo. We scrambled around the zoo in scorching hot weather for about 45 minutes and bought lots of souvenirs. Later we said goodbye to our precious rental car that everyone kept complimenting us on and flew home. I'm not too happy to be back to reality, but I'm grateful for my trip and the experience I got, grateful that Zar and I have continued to remain great and best friends after breaking up a year ago and glad everything went smooth and safe at Bonnaroo. I can't wait to go back...

Bonnaroo- Day 2

Friday, Day 2 was longer, hotter and easier to get into. We found the correct entrance and this time it took only 15 minutes to get in and park. The day was beautiful, nice and sunny with a slight breeze when we got lucky. We had a lot of time for exploring, lounging and dino gummy snacks. I got to see She and Him and fell in love with Zoey Deschanel just like everyone else has/did. We also saw Kings of Leon, Michael Franti, Kid Cudi (who was terrible live,) Chromeo with Daryl Hall (AWESOME!) and B.O.B (by this time it was 4am and I had fallen asleep on the floor.) sleeepyyz...

Bonnaroo- Day 1

I'm in Tennessee! Zar and I landed in Nashville on Thursday. I don't feel like I am out of Texas but I definitely know I am not in McAllen anymore. Everything is really green and there's lots of hills! The Bonnaroo music festival is just... I can't even put it into words. It's an experience I think everyone should do at least once in their lifetime, I've never had so much fun in my life. Thursday we waited in the car line for 3 hours (the wrong line obviously,) but nonetheless we got inside in time for The XX and a few other bands. It's a complete little hipster city with thousands of tents, lots of mud, a ferris wheel, a mini water park, a cinema with air conditioning (where we saw some of The Hangover,) a comedy theatre, lots of food, a beer cave... which by the way, I DRANK BEER FOR THE FIRST TIME EVEERR! It wasn't "real beer," it was Woodchuck and it tastes like apple juice which is good for me because beer is all they have inside the festival. At about 2am we saw DJ Afrojack with about 6,000 other people. I think Zar and I were the only people who weren't on drugs! It was the best "concert" experience I've ever had, everyone was so wild and loving their bodies, blowing bubbles, doing light shows and jumping up and down. I took some video footage that I will post later on, but for now here's my first day in Tennessee...
